Rent and Service Charge Updates for 2026/27

Rent and Service Charge Updates for 2026/27

Over the coming weeks, you will receive a letter outlining any changes to your rent and service charges for the 2026/27 financial year.

We understand that any increase in housing costs can have an impact, and we want to make sure you have clear, accurate information so you can keep your rent account up to date.

Below is a summary of what you need to know and the actions you may need to take.

If You Receive Housing Benefit

If you receive Housing Benefit, please contact your local authority as soon as your letter arrives to update them with your new rent and service charge amounts.

Notifying them promptly ensures your benefit continues to cover the correct amount and helps prevent underpayments or rent arrears.

If You Receive Universal Credit

If you receive Universal Credit, you must update your rent details via your online UC journal.

Please ensure you:

  • Update your rent and service charge on the date the changes take effect (shown in your letter), or
  • Make the change before your monthly assessment period ends.

To help you remember, keep your letter safe and consider setting a reminder.

What Your Letter Will Include

Your rent review letter will provide:

  • The exact date your rent and service charge changes begin
  • A full breakdown of your new charges
  • Information on how your charges have been calculated

If anything is unclear once you receive your letter, we’re here to help.
