- Membership: Primarily made up of tenant representatives from various estates and blocks across Karibu’s stock.
- Meetings: Held bi-monthly (every two months).
- Purpose & Role:

- Discusses Karibu’s performance in key service areas (repairs, customer service, tenancy management, estate services).
- Reviews general tenant experiences and escalates recurring concerns to leadership.
- Acts as a bridge between Karibu and its residents, ensuring local issues are represented at organisational level.

Scrutiny Committee
- Membership: A smaller, dedicated group of trained tenant members.
- Purpose & Role:
- Carries out in-depth scrutiny projects on specific service areas.
- Holds staff accountable by testing whether services are efficient, value for money, and tenant-focused.
- Produces formal reports and recommendations for improvement to the Board and Executive Team.
- Current/Recent Work:
- Completed a review of responsive repairs, leading to practical recommendations.
- Planning a review of communications, with a focus on improving clarity, consistency, and accessibility of messages to tenants.
- Impact: Provides evidence-based insights that directly influence policy and service delivery.

Complaints Panel
- Membership: Tenant volunteers who have been trained in complaints handling and Ombudsman standards.
- Purpose & Role:
- Provides a tenant perspective on complaints that have been escalated to the Housing Ombudsman.
- Reviews how Karibu handled the issue, whether the response was fair, and where improvements can be made.
- Advises on service lessons to ensure better complaint management and resolution in future cases.
- Impact: Builds tenant trust by ensuring the complaints process is transparent, fair, and resident-centred.

- Membership: A group of tenants with an interest in procurement and value for money.
- Purpose & Role:
- Supported Karibu in embedding social value principles into procurement (e.g., ensuring contractors contribute to community benefits, sustainability, or employment opportunities).
- Reviewed contracts to ensure they deliver value for money while also benefiting residents and communities.
- Status: Currently task-complete, but may be re-activated if new procurement projects require tenant oversight.
- Impact: Ensures Karibu’s spending power benefits both residents and the wider community.

- Offers a flexible way for tenants to engage without attending formal meetings.
- Provides quick feedback on policies, strategies, and service changes.
- Acts as a recruitment pool for other panels (Scrutiny, Complaints, Procurement, etc.), depending on interest and expertise.
- Impact: Ensures a wide and diverse range of tenant voices are captured in decision-making, especially those unable to attend in-person meetings.

Community Champions
- Membership: Volunteers from estates and neighbourhoods who want to play an active role in community wellbeing.
- Purpose & Role:
- Serve as the “eyes and ears” on estates, working alongside Housing Officers.
- Help monitor and report issues with estate services (cleaning, grounds maintenance, communal repairs).
- Play a role in tackling Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) by reporting concerns early and supporting community safety initiatives.
- Strengthen neighbourhood networks, encouraging resident pride and responsibility.
- Impact: Helps Karibu maintain high standards in estates while fostering stronger, safer, and more connected communities.
