Paying your rent

Paying your rent on time is important. Breaking the terms of your tenancy agreement, which includes your responsibility to pay rent on time, could put your home at risk.

If you have any concerns about paying your rent, or if you need advice on any of the following payment options, please contact us via our Connect with us form.

Rent arrears and late payments also  affects our cash flow; meaning it can compromise the funding and investment we provide to support the services you and other residents need.

You can view your rent statements and rent account summary - which will give you details of any outstanding payments - via the Rent Account section of 'My Karibu' app.

If you haven't already registered for 'My Karibu' app, you can let us know via our Connect with us form.

If you have a Post Office, bank, or building society current account, paying by Direct Debit is the easiest and most convenient way to pay your rent. Setting up a Direct Debit is simple to do by completing our Direct Debit instruction form. You can also settle any arrears via Direct Debit and you can choose the day you want the money to be taken from your account.

Direct Debit Guarantees apply, and you must have enough money in your account to meet your payments and avoid bank charges. Please always check your statements to make sure that the payments are being made on time and that the correct amount of money is being taken from your account.

Standing Order payments are similar to a Direct Debit, except you will need to set up a new Standing Order if the rental amount changes. Standing Orders put the responsibility onto you to ensure that the regular payments are scheduled and paid for correctly.

Standing Order payments must be made in advance and most banks will allow weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments. As with Direct Debits, please make sure you have enough money in your account before the payments are due to go out and check your statements to make sure that payments have been made successfully.

To set up a Standing Order, you need to send a Standing Order Mandate Form to your bank with the details of your payment. You can download this form here.

AllPay is a secure online payment system which gives you the flexibility to pay your rent in the comfort of your own home via the internet. You will need to register with AllPay to do this. Register with AllPay here.

You can pay your rent at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet using your Karibu swipe card. You should have received your Swipe Card as part of your tenancy. If you don't have a card, or have lost it, please contact us via our Connect with us form.

Just hand your Karibu swipe card to the cashier and say how much you want to pay. You can pay by cash, cheque, debit card or postal order. The cashier will swipe the card through an electronic reader and enter the amount. The computer will print a receipt with the date, rent account number, the amount paid and details of the post office or PayPoint outlet. There are no bank charges, although some PayPoint outlets only accept cash payments.

You can make payments over the telephone using a debit or credit card. To make a payment over the phone, please call our office on 020 8607 7777.
