STAIRs
Have you ever wanted to search for information about your landlord or make a request for specific performance data or information? You can now do this through STAIRs - Social Tenant Access to Information Requirement Scheme.

The Social Tenant Access to Information Requirement (STAIRs) is a new standard introduced by the UK Government. It gives people living in social housing greater rights to access information about how their home and housing services are managed.
Key points:
- From October 2026, housing providers must publish key information (see Part 1) about how they manage homes, including repairs, safety checks, and performance.
- From April 2027, tenants will be able to request specific information (see Part 2) about their housing, and landlords must respond within 30 calendar days.
- The requirement is similar to the Freedom of Information (FOI) regime that applies to local authorities and is now being extended to housing associations and other registered providers.
- The aim is to make housing providers more open, transparent, and accountable, helping customers better understand decisions and hold their landlords to account.
