Get Winter-Ready: Check Your Heating and Hot Water Now

As the colder months approach, it's important to make sure your heating and hot water systems are working properly.
A quick check now can help avoid discomfort and costly repairs later. At Karibu Community Homes, we want to help you stay warm and safe this winter.
🔍 What You Can Do Today
Here are a few simple steps you can take to check your heating and hot water systems:
1. Test Your Heating
- Turn on your heating system for at least 15–30 minutes.
- Check each radiator to ensure it’s warming up evenly.
- If any radiators are cold at the top and warm at the bottom, they may need bleeding to remove trapped air.
- Listen for any unusual noises like banging or gurgling.
2. Check Your Hot Water
- Run the hot tap in your kitchen and bathroom.
- Make sure the water heats up within a reasonable time.
- If the water stays cold or lukewarm, your boiler or water heater may need attention.
3. Inspect Your Thermostat
- Make sure your thermostat is working and set to a comfortable temperature.
- If it’s not responding or seems inaccurate, it may need replacing or recalibrating.
4. Look for Warning Lights or Error Codes
- Check your boiler or heating unit for any flashing lights or error messages.
- If you see anything unusual, note it down and contact our Repairs team.
