Become a Karibu Community Champion – Make a Difference in Your Community!

Do you want to make your block or estate a better place to live? Do you care about your neighbours and want to see your community thrive? Our Community Champions program is your chance to lead positive change and ensure every voice is heard.

What is a Community Champion?

Community Champions are local residents who act as advocates, connectors, and influencers within their neighbourhoods. They share important information, encourage participation in community activities, and provide feedback to help shape services that truly meet local needs.

By stepping into this role, you’ll:

  • Promote engagement in local projects and events.
  • Be a trusted link between residents and Karibu.
  • Gather feedback to improve housing services and community life.
  • Support initiatives that enhance health, wellbeing, and social inclusion.

Why Become a Champion?

This is more than a volunteer role—it’s an opportunity to make a real difference. You’ll help tackle issues like crime, parking challenges, and communication gaps, while building stronger relationships among neighbours. Plus, you’ll gain new skills, confidence, and recognition for your contribution.

What Support Will You Get?

We’ll provide:

  • Training and resources to help you succeed.
  • A dedicated coordinator for guidance and support.
  • Opportunities for personal development and networking with other champions.

Our 12-month training plan covers everything from communication skills and leadership to safeguarding, digital engagement, and project planning. Sessions are interactive, practical, and designed to fit around your schedule.

Upcoming Training Dates for 2026:

  • 06 January: Induction & Orientation
  • 03 February: Communication Skills
  • 03 March: Community Engagement
  • 07 April: Leadership & Confidence Building
    …and more throughout the year!

Your Commitment

  • Just 2–4 hours per month.
  • Attend induction and ongoing training sessions.
  • Participate in quarterly review meetings.
